Lets check out Daal Fry(Punjab style)

Daal fry is one of the most popular veg side dish not only in Punjab but in the entire country for the delicious taste and flavor it brings for you. 

Let's take a quick look on how to prepare the delicious authentic Punjabi dish. 

दाल  फ्र ा इ   -  Daal Fry 


Ingredients


      • 1 cup daal( Masur / Arhar / Moong)
      • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
      • 3 to 3.5 cups of water
      • 2 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste.
      • 1/2 tsp (0.5 tsp) turmeric
      • 3/4 tsp salt or to taste
      • 2 large size onion
      • 2 tomatoes
      • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
      • 1 teaspoon lemon juice / 2 tsp curd
      • Mixture of spices(1/2 teaspoon of red chilli powder, Coriander powder, Garam masala powder)


Lets Cook

  • Step 1 :: Take a pressure cooker and heat oil over a medium flame. once hot, add cumin seeds and let them splutter. After this put 2 finely chopped onions. Stir well for 2-3 minutes.                    



    

  • Step 2 ::  Now add the ginger-garlic paste to the same vessel and fry till they turn golden brown and you get the first smell of it. Now add mixture of spices to it and mix well. After a minute, add tomatoes followed by salt and turmeric powder. Cook for 4-5 minutes. Add Masur / Arhar /moong dal along with water as required.




  • Step 3 ::  Cover the pressure cooker lid and cook till 1 whistles on a high flame and 2-3 on low flame or until the dal is cooked well. Once it is cooked well, open the lid and transfer it to a separate bowl. Add lemon juice, garam masala powder, ghee(optional) over the dal and garnish it with coriander leaves. Yummy Daal Fry is READY TO SERVE.
